This quarterly bills itself as follows: "Founded in 1926, the New Mexico Historical Review is one of the oldest and most distinguished historical journals in the nation. Produced by the University of New Mexico, the New Mexico Historical Review publishes original articles dealing with southwestern history and culture from the earliest prehistory to the present. Each issue also contains historical news, book reviews, occasional review essays on books, and book notes."
We've looked forward to the quarterly issues with real pleasure for several years. The table of contents of the major articles in the current issue:
"New Deal Success or `Noble Failure'? Bosque Farms' Early Years as a Federal Resettlement Project, 1935-1939," by Richard Melzer
"'A Matter Very Close to My Heart': Franklin D. Roosevelt, The Tingleys, and the Creation of the Carrie Tingley Hospital for Crippled Children and the New Deal," by David Kammer
"The Meeting: An Essay on Memory," by Thomas Bowen and R. James Hills
"Spanish Lead Shot of the Coronado Expedition: A Progress Report on Isotope Analysis of Lead from Five Sites," by Nugent Brasher
It's well worth googling on the name of the quarterly; many of its articles appear in full in various eBook collections. New Mexico generally, and Santa Fe in particular, have a large number of historical sites and museums, and this journal provides an excellent guide to the treasures here.
