A recent winner of Utne's "Best International Coverage" award, "NACLA" deserves every accolade it receives. Each issue is a treasure of insight into Latin America's social, political, economic and cultural trends; and the ways in which the region is intertwined with U.S. policy and the machinations of transnational corporations. I even enjoy NACLA's advertisements, which guide people to an array of interesting books or offer opportunities to travel with groups like "Witness for Peace" and "Global Exchange."
Topics of a recent issue included organic farming in Bolivia, the resistance to the tyranny of neoliberal economics, student activism in El Salvador, and paramilitary policies in the region.
NACLA is indispensable, and deserves subscriber support.
