The UK based "SOS" magazine is a must have for anyone recording music in the digital and analogue world. This monthly looks great, is written with a London feel, has few ads and includes about 25 unbiased product reviews, master classes and interviews with musicians and engineers (including most recently Sherly Crow's recording projects.)
As a New Yorker, I enjoy the UK editorial slant. The few ads present are mostly from London surburban music stores....which adds a neat European flavor to the reading experience.
I also subscrube to Electronic Musician and Home Recording .
It features plenty of excellent in-depth and unbiased product reviews, "master classes" on various elements of composition, synthesis, recording, mastering, etc; interviews with industry pros; reviews of software and sampling discs; discussion forums; reader reviews; and blablablayounameit.
