(More customer reviews)The great pieces in here are really great and the rest are so-so, although you may disagree with on what pieces fit into those categories. This mag contains a mix of 18th century (the cover photo), 1950s with a little bit of 1980s minus the big hair. Among the great are the incredible round gossamer lace shawl with sleeves, the short pink cardigan with the bow, the blue and white brocade short sleeve cardigan with the ruffled, picot-edged collar, ( although I don't know why they made it so large), the loose white lace top with blue edging, the cover sweater with crochet edging, and the mint green "Whitby" long open cardigan, with its oversized collar, short sleeves and cabled edges. Some of the sweaters look good because of the outfits they're paired with: the light blue sleeveless top with the four vertical ruffles in the middle, the pale aqua cardigan with the bobbles above the waist ribbing, the cropped pale straw colored tie neck, short sleeved sweater, the tan ribbed cardigan with the white lace edging, and the very long one button jewel tone vest, but I don't think they'd stand up on their own. There are some wearable basics: the light grey one button cardi with two types of rib, the men's solid blue cabled sweater, a round neck color-blocked sweater in jewel tones that's not your usual color-blocked sweater, a pale grey v-neck retro pullover with lacy front and a fun crochet stole in jewel tones. The rest is mostly filler with shapeless tops I doubt many will make and an assortment of filler-type pillows, place mats and table whatnots they call "clever ideas". I just don't think food goes with knitted bowls, one of the clever ideas. Some sweaters have potential but just don't quite pull it off - the dark/light green stripe shortie cardigan with pockets is too pouffy on the sides for example, but I can see a school age person wearing it. The green wrap sweater with red accents has a good fit, but just didn't inspire me. Yet there are enough inspired good pieces to make this worth buying.
